The Sixteen Saṁskāras — A Life Sanctified

Caru Govinda Dāsa · July 4, 2026

From the sacred moment of conception to the final offering into Agni, the Vedic tradition wraps every threshold of human life in mantra, blessing, and remembrance of Śrī Bhagavān. These rites of passage — the ṣoḍaśa saṁskāras, the sixteen sanctifications — are not mere ceremonies. They are the ancient architecture by which an ordinary life becomes a continuous yajña, an unbroken offering.

In five gentle lessons, this course walks the modern householder through every saṁskāra: what each rite means, when it is traditionally performed, which scriptures describe it, and how a contemporary family can observe it with both authenticity and practical ease. Along the way you will learn how the Vaiṣṇava ācāryas understood these rites — as ways of binding a soul, from before its very birth, to the lotus feet of the Lord.

Offered freely as sevā to every seeker. No prior knowledge of Sanskrit or ritual is required — only the wish to sanctify the life you and your family already live.
